This was my first time in the DC location after visiting the Rockville location (which was a lovely experience). Unfortunately, the service from the staff was disappointing. From what I saw from the other tables and my own we needed to call staff multiple times to ask for things whether it be a new drink or a water refill. The dishes themselves were excellent but my pad Thai arrived over 5 minutes after my partners dish. At that point my partners food had gotten cold from waiting for me to get my plate.
The restaurant has limited seating so make sure you make reservations in advance especially if you need to seat more than 4 people. The ambience is beautiful and vibrant. The food is alright but I might have higher standards because I'm from Southeast Asia. The staff were extremely kind and accommodating. We booked the place for a private event for 25 people and they were generous to provide us with some free dishes, which we really appreciate! The portion is generous so you can share your food. I brought my leftovers home and ate them the next day.
Visiting DC and I have come to this place TWO DAYS IN A ROW!!!!! The food is beyond amazing. Day 1 I ate the Beef Noodles and Day 2 I tried the Tom Yum soup accompanied by the chicken pad Thai. It was delicious. The bartender Shane was super kind and even went above and beyond at creating a drink I requested (which was really good). The atmosphere was nice. Nice music, nice strangers, and overall just a good place to have good Thai food. I will be returning yet again whenever I’m back in the area.
I came across Thai Chef Street Food while walking around DuPont Circle. When I walked in I was met by a big wall art piece that just fits. I was greeted promptly by very friendly servers. I ordered what was “marked” as favorites. The drunken noodles is a yummy. The Thai tea and Thai coffee has none of the powdery taste that you find in other spots. I also got the chive cubes and dumplings. I will be back to try different dishes.
I had a wonderful Happy Hour meal here. The food was very filling and I enjoyed it very much. We were served quickly and courteously. The happy hour specials were really good, and the non-happy hour prices were not bad for Dupont Circle. The aura of the restaurant is also nice, the walls are decorated in a vibrant and colorful manner. Enjoyed this restaurant!
Thai Chef Street Food was our daughter’s choice for lunch since she had never been there and she wanted to try it. She really liked it. Personally, Thai food isn’t my cup of tea, haha. I prefer Chinese food over Thai. But it’s a cute place, not far from the Dupont Circle Metro. We parked in a parking garage (1666 Connecticut Ave NW) a block away. I liked the Spring Rolls, they were cooked well and were tasty. There is also an upstairs if you want a more private dining area.
Great experience! Stopped by for lunch and sat at the bar. I had purple rain cocktail and the claypot noodle. Both were delicious. The service was great as well and I really love the aesthetic!
I went for the Dry Catfish Curry with a side of veggies. Fantastic flavor in the curry with a nice building heat that didn't have me sweating but still red in the face. The catfish was perfectly fried: good fried texture while still moist and soft on the inside. If I'm ever back in the area, I will definitely consider trying other options on the menu
